Photograph: "Old Water Plant--This photograph, submitted by Tommy Thomas, Jr. of Decatur, shows the interior of the old water plant in 1930. It had steam operated pumps, maintained and turned on and off street lights, and pumped water into lines. Coal-fired boilers provided steam power. Tommy Thomas, Sr. was one of three stationary engineers at the plant and is one of the men pictured above. Every man in the picture, except one, is wearing a hat or cap."
