Armed Forces - Herald and Review Library; Fiedler, Arthur, 4/4/1947. Article on back: "Arthur Fiedler: Fiedler Plans Belgium Trip: Arthur Fiedler, U .S. Marine corps veteran and son of Charles Fiedler, chef at the Orlando hotel for ten years is leaving Decatur tomorrow to return to Belgium. Young Mr. Fiedler came to the United States from Roulers, Belgium with his mother just ahead of German occupation of that country in 1939. He served four years with the marines and is a veteran of seven Pacific battles. He was in the Doolittle escort to Tokyo in April of 1942. He is returning to Belgium to operrate a news distributing agency, for his grandfather, Camiel Cool, he said. His grandfather, and an uncle, Omer Cook, kept the agency operating during the war, he said. since his marine discharge in 1944, Mr. Fiedler, an American citizen born in Jackson, Mich., has been working as a bartender here. Before entering service he was an usher at the Empress theater. His parents are remaining in this country."
