Herald and Review Library: Taylor, Aubrey; Article on back of photo; "Trips Across Alaska Told; Two airplane trips from the United States across the snowbound stretches of western and northern Canada into Alaska this winter were made by Aubrey Taylor, former Decatur high school and Millikin university athlete. Taylor is a second lieutenant in the army air corps and his flights north and west were just part of the his job as an army transport pilot. In Decatur for a 10-day visit, ending today, with his sister, Mrs. Elmer Sheets of 1348-1/2 East Lawrence avenue, Lieutenant Taylor said he had been frightened several times while crossing snow and mountains, but still maintained it was great sport. It was rough going a time or two, the 26-year-old flier reported. While the planes 'iced' badly at times, the pilot managed to get through to find Alaska a place not much colder than Central Illinois. Lieutenant Taylor left Millikin at the end of this third year, last year, and after receiving his commission at Brooksfield, Texas, was stationed at Middletown, Pa. he is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Arb Taylor of Milmine. Taylor starred in nearly every school sport while attending Decatur high school."
