Herald and Review Library: Vandervort, 2nd Lt. Jack C., Article on back of photo; "Jack C. Vandervort, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Vandervort, rural route 1, has arrived home to spend the holidays with his parents. He enlisted in the army air corps on Aug. 1, and received his second lieutenant's commission at Kelly Field, Texas, on Dec. 1. Lieutenant Vandervort received his training at Victory Field, Vernon, Texas; Herrin Field, Sherman, Texas, and Duncan Field, San Antonio, Texas. he will report to Michigan after his furlough. Before entering the service, Lieutenant Vandervort was employed by The Herald and Review."
