Herald and Review Library: Grant, Leo "Steve", Article on back of photo; "Grant on Okinawa, Pfc. Leo "Steve" Grant, son of Mrs. Emma e. Grant, 1428 North Illinois street, is with the combat engineers on Okinawa island. Despite heavy enemy fire, Private Grant took part in an early reconnaissance mission on Okinawa for the construction and repair of roads and bridges. He previously saw action on Leyte island. Before entering service in October, 1943, he was employed by A. E. Staley Mfg. Co."
