Herald and Review Library: Photo of Greene, Edward D. in uniform. Article on back of photo; "Greene Given Commission, Edward d. Greene, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Greene, 425 Nelson boulevard, has been commissioned a second lieutenant at the single-engine fighter pilot school at Luke Field, Ariz., according to an announcement by his commanding officer. On Dec. 23, Lieutenant Greene received his commission and sliver pilot wings. A former student at Decatur high school, he received training at Scott Field, Ill; Camp Clairborne, La., and Sheppard Field, Texas."
