Description
Herald and Review Library: Hoffman, Sgt. Margaret; Article on back of photo: "Among the first women of the nation to enter the army medical service was Sgt. Margaret Hoffman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Hoffman, 1844 North Gulick avenue. Margaret is home on furlough from Fitzsimmons General hospital in Denver, Colo., where she is a pharmacy technician, preparing and dispensing medicines. She has 28 months of service to look back upon, having joined up in November , 1942. All the way through her army service she has asked to served with the medics, and it doesn't take much conversation with her to be assured that she is a girl 'in love', with her work. She has watched the women's medical branch of the army grown from a comparative handful when she was in training at Fort Des Moines, Iowa, until today when women of the branch are serving side by side with army nurses in the general hospitals in this country. When Margaret enlisted, only women, who had medical training in civilian life were going into the medical branch. She is a former druggist assistant at St. Mary's hospital."
