Herald and Review Library: Kinney, M/Sgt. Charles R., Article on back of photo: "Master Sgt. Charles r. Kinney, whose brother, William, lives at 556 East Leafland avenue, recently assisted in the killing of 12 Japanese near his squadron area, according to word from his base in the Philippines. Sergeant Kinney, chief armored in an organization of the Fifth air force fighter command, joined a patrol to flush out the Japs who had taken cover in a rice paddy. With carbine, the sergeant fired into the enemy group when it was located and when the patrol advanced they found 12 bodies of Japanese soldiers massed together. Sergeant Kinney entered service in March, 1941, and has served in New Guinea and the Philippines since November, 1943."
