Herald and Review Library: Kirby, William D., Article on back of photo; "City Street Commissioner and Mrs. Lyle Kirby's two sons, William D. and Forrest, now are in New Guinea, living in the same tent, previously having been together through more than a year of training and service in the United States. Mr. and Mrs. Kirby reside at 2110 East Moore street, as do their sons' two wives and William D., Jr. the family heard from the two soldiers last week for the first time in several weeks, the men reporting they were in New Guinea with the army engineers."
