Photograph of the National Hotel Building located at 561 N. Front, St., Decatur, IL. "National Hôtel. Hotels near the railroad stations were numerous in the early days and Decatur had its share. The one shown here was the National at Front and Cerro Gordo operated by John McEvoy. It stood there for many years but was replaced by the Kraft Hotel in 1907. The little building at the left is the news stand operated by Louis Chodat, Sr., where he also sold soft drinks and tobacco. This picture was taken in 1889. Photo ran Nov 21, 1935."
