WWII - Herald and Review Library; Cochran, George E., 4/19/1944. Article with photo: "Staff Sgt. George E. Cochran, a tall gunner in the Ninth Air Force Marauder squadron stationed in England, is credited with knocking down a Nazi ME-109 on his sixth trip over enemy territory. The aircraft was sent to the ground somewhere over France while the group was bombing coastal installations in France, according to information from his English base. Sergeant Cochran's wife, Mrs. Shirley G. Cochran, lives at 1045 East Lincoln Street."
