Herald and Review Library: Scheiter, Ruth A., left and Peel, Jayne L, right; Article on back of photo; "Spar Chums to Boston After Weekend Here; Jayne L. Peel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest b. Peel, 1362 North Main Street, and Ruth A. Scheiter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Scheiter, 1714 North Main street, spent a weekend recently here after more than four months in Spar Boot and yeoman school in Palm Beach, Fla. Both graduates of Decatur high school in the class of 1941 and friends of long standing, they reported to Boston together for their first assignment. Miss Peel, a seaman first class, attended Illinois State Normal university in Normal for two ears and last year was second grade teacher in Milford. Miss Scheiter, a National Honor Society graduate of Decatur high school, attended Millikin university for a year and was formerly with the Railroad Retirement board here. She was also active as a Red Cross nurse's aide. She is a yeoman third class."
