Reed, motor machinist's mate second class, of Decatur, Ill., is seeing action abroad a Coast Guard-manned LSt in the Pacific. In the spearheads of Pacific invasions, tank landing ships manned by Coast Guardsmen are helping to lengthen the island-reed stretching toward Japan. Coast Guardsman Reed is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark T. Reed, 1167 Harrison avenue." "Burrell F. "Bud' Reed, motor machinist's mate second class, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark T. Reed, 1167 East Harrison avenue, is seeing action aboard a coast guard-manned LST in the Pacific area. In the spearheads of Pacific invasions, tank landing ships are used to help pave the way to Japan. Machinist's Mate Reed, a former employee of the barker shoe store,k enlisted in service in August, 1942 and attended diesel engine school at Groton, Conn."
