Herald and Review Library: Rutledge, Lt. Robert D, Article on back of photo; "First Lieut. Robert D. Rutledge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thelo Rutledge, 845 North Main, recently completed 35 operational missions as navigator of a Liberator bomber, according to word from his base in Italy. A former employee of the Sangamon ordnance plant, he joined the army air force in February, 1943 and has been overseas since last September. He holds the air medal with three Oak Leaf clusters. His wife, Gladys, lives on rural route 1, Carlisle, Pa."
