Herald and Review Library: Seller, Lt. W. W.; Article on back of photo; "Lt. W. W. Sellers, whose wife, the former Doris Gandy, son and mother live at 1499 West forest avenue, has served as assistant gunnery officer on the U.S.S. Breese, a mine-layer, in the Pacific area since September, 1944. Lieutenant Sellers has participated in invasions of Leyte, Lingayen gulf, Iwo Jima and Okinawa, each time arriving with the first units of the fleet. many times the ship was under enemy fire from planes and shore batteries. For 145 days at Okinawa the ship was in combat. Lieutenant Sellers was formerly chief chemist at the Caterpillar Military Engine Co., plant. He is a graduate of Bradley college and the University of Illinois."
