WWII - Herald and Review Library; Cox, Sgt. Melburn L., 12/18/1944. Official photo U.S. AAF - by AAF Training command. Article attached to the back of the photo: "Staff Sgt. Melburn L. cox, son of Mrs. Sallie Hardcastle, 540 N. Union St., is shown here receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross from Col. R. P. Todd, commanding officer at Lowry Field, Colo., where the sergeant is now stationed. sergeant Cox, a former employe of he Gebhart Stores, Inc., attended the armament school at Lowry Field and went oversears as a ball turret gunner. He flew 30 missions in the European theater and holds the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf clusters. Upon his return to the states last August, he was married to Eloise Koslofski; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Koslofski, 1904 East Eldorado Street.
