WWII - Herald and Review Library; "Ensign Claud G., Davis, and. Lt. James L. Brader 1/13/1944. Article on back: "Ensign Claud G. Davis, who has been in the Navy for almost 18 years, has just returned from serving more than four years as ship's writer, assistant personnel office, on one of the largest United States aircraft carriers in t he Pacific area. Ensign Davis, who entered the Navy as an apprentice seaman when he was 18 years old, received his commission in June 1942. He was assigned to duty at the St. Louis office of naval officer procurement in October, 1943, to assist with the naval air corps cadet procurement. Lieut. James L. Brader, also a veteran naval officer, who is in charge of the two-day interviewing program here, said that men between the ages of 17 and 26, who are unmarried, are eligible for the cadet program."
