WWII - Herald and Review Library; Drexler, Elizabeth Freeman/ 2/22/1944. Article on back of photo: Seaman Elizabeth Freeman Drexler, former auditor's clerk at the Caterpillar Military Engine Co., finds that she wears out shoes 'faster than I ever have in my life,' she tells the cobbler at the U. S. Naval training school, Bronx, N. Y., where she is taking her boot training as a member of the original Inez. J. Bender, Wave platoon. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Harry Freeman, Newark, IL. A second contingent of the Decatur Waves platoon is being formed now by Wave personnel stationed in the Illinois Power Co. offices."
