WWII - Herald and Review Library; Evans, Enfer E., 6/1/1945. Caption on back: "Bement Sailor Advanced in Raring: Enfer E. Evans, 24, watertender, first class, USNR, whose wife, Mrs. Ruby Durbin Evans, and daughter, live at 232 West Bowyer St., Bement, IL. was recently advanced to his present rating while on duty aboard a baby flat-top in the Pacific. Entering the Navy the day following the Pearl Harbor attack, Evans has spent three years at sea in all Pacific battle zones. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs .Arva M. Evans of Bement, IL."
