Photograph of Rev. Horace Reed; (died 11/15/1914). Methodist minister who at the time of death was one of the oldest in the Methodist conference. He came to the pastorate of the First Methodist Church in Decatur in 1874 and remained 2 years. He returned in 1899 as superintendent of Decatur District. In 1905 he became field agent for Illinois Woman's College at Jacksonville. In 1908 he resigned to become secretary for the evangelistic commission. In 1909 he was field secretary of the Illinois Vigilance Association. In 1911 he became field secretary and organizer of purity reform work. In 1909 he was in charge of the campaign for raising funds for the D & M C hospital (now Decatur Memorial Hospital). Information from clips. Ran Review 7/20/1905.
