Photograph of I. A. (Isadore Abraham) Wallins; Decatur agent for New York Life Insurance Co. In 1909 he purchased the Zuckerman women's ready-to-wear business at 151 N. Water and changed the name to Wallins and Co. He quit this business in 1915. In 1918 the firm Atlass-Wallins Co. was incorporated. It was owned by Atlass and he took Wallins, his son-in-law, as a partner. This company bought and sold poultry, eggs, butter and junk. In 1920 Atlass sold out to Wallins and the name was changed to I. A. Wallins, Inc. In 1932 Wallins sold out to Lewis J. Burstein. In 1948 he was elected president of the Council of Social Agencies. He was a member of the Family Welfare Assn. for 26 years and president of the Council for several years. In 1944 he became a member of the O.P.A. price panel of Macon County. In March 1954 he became chairman of the disaster committee of Macon County Red Cross chapter. Photo by Lindquist of Decatur.
