Photograph of House on 243 S. Franklin Street. "Records in the county recorder's office show that the house was constructed in 1837 by James Allen and later became the property of Wilson Allen in 1837, Jerome R. Gorin in 1846, William L. Powers in 1849, Orlando Powers in 1850, Eliza J. Moeller in 1864 and Richard Little in 1891. Shortly after that the house was purchased by Nina Ebert and her brother, Henry Ebert. Valentine Feitner was married to Nina Ebert a few months later and bought out Henry Ebert's interest in the house. Following Nina's death in 1892, Mr. Feitner remarried, and he and the new Mrs. Feitner shared the house until his death in Feb. 1928. Mrs. Mary Feitner remained there until 1938 when the house was torn down and the county building was constructed on that site. Information from clips. Photo by Herald and Review, ran 8/19/1938."
