Herald and Review Library: Swartz, Gene; Article on back of photo; "Puerto Rico hasn't been very prominent in the war news but the Yanks are there and prepared, according to Gene Swartz who is back on furlough, anxious to witness some cage games. Gene, who was one of the many boys who have spent extra time in the Herald-Review sports department while attending high school or Millikin is a baker 1st class in the U. S. Navy. Located at a base near San Juan, he reports that the natives are wild about baseball and have operated both amateur and professional leagues on the island."
