Photograph of J. Ben Wand; (died 4/5/1948). Publisher of trade journals in Florida. He was a graduate of Millikin in 1911 and a former telegraph editor of the Herald and Review. He was editor of the Clinton Evening Public from 1914 to 1917. He went to Jacksonville, Florida in 1923 as editor and publisher of The Southern Lumber Journal and later formed the Wand Publication Co., and added The Southeastern Hotel Journal, The Southeastern Drug Journal and The Florida and Enroute, a tourist's guide for Florida. He served as a member of the Florida legislature in the early 1930's. He organized the student council at Millikin and was its first president. In 1944 he presented Millikin with $3,400 from with $100 income annually is given as the Wand award to the student most outstanding in dramatics. Photo by VanDeventer of Decatur.
