Description

Photograph of Harry Clay and Matilda E. Wire. Harry died 10/14/1938, Decatur Contractor for many years. He retired about 1918. At one time he was city building inspector and later served on the zoning board. He was a member of the Masonic lodge. He was contractor for many of Decatur's buildings constructed during the early 1900's. Included was old St. Paul's Lutheran School, torn down in 1938. He is the father of P. H. Wire, general manager of the East St. Louis Journal. Photo by Lewis, ran in the Decatur Review, 1/25/1936.
Mrs. Harry Clay (Matilda E.) Wire; died 8/20/1936. Mrs. Wire was chaplain of the Lela S. Penniwell circle of Ladies of the G.A.R.. She was a member of Progress Rebekah Lodge and of Golden Crown Camp of the Royal Neighbors. Photo by Lewis, ran Herald and Review 9/2/1934.
