Description

Photograph of John R. Fitzgerald (d. 1/30/1952). He was a Decatur attorney and outstanding criminal lawyer. Fitzgerald was a member of the Decatur Bar Association, United States Association, charter member of the Knights of Columbus Decatur Chapter #577, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He was admitted to the bar in 1895, and a partner of L.A. Mills and James T. Whitley. In 1919, he was elected president of the Macon County Abstract and Insurance Co., which took over the insurance business and purchased the building of Strohm & Co. agency at 114 N. Water St. in 1928, he was elected a director of the Warrensburg Canning Co. The photo was taken by Wasson, and used in the Decatur Herald or Daily Review on January 15, 1919.
