Photograph of Judge William Corwin Johns (d. 6/25/1914). He came to Decatur in 1849, and attended Decatur schools. He served in the Civil War, and attended Lombard University and the University of Michigan. Johns studied law in the law office of Crea and Ewing, and graduated from the Albany Law School in 1870. He was elected state's attorney in 1880, and served as state senator from 1887 to 1891. He was elected circuit judge of the 6th judicial district in 1903 and again in 1909, and continued as judge until his death. He was the 4th president of the Decatur Club in 1887. The photo was taken by Vandeventer, and ran in the Decatur Daily Review on July 31, 1906.
