Description
Photographs from the April 21, 1915 fire at the Decatur Hotel and Arcade building in downtown Decatur. The fire was discovered by an engineer in the boiler room of the basement of the hotels, but no explanation of how the fire had originated was known. Two people were believed to have perished in the fire, W. E. Graham and C. S. Guild. During the fire many of the surrounding buildings were also threatened to catch on fire however the fire department was successful in containing the fire to the already doomed building. The estimated loss of the buildings was $200,000.
