Photograph of Peter Halmbacher (d. 2/1/1910). He was born in Germany, a veteran of the Prussian-Bavarian War in 1866, and came to Decatur in 1869. He was a pattern maker by trade. Halmbacher worked as a cabinet maker for Decatur Furniture Co., as a pattern maker for H. Mueller, and eventually went into business for himself with William Bold. He sold his part of the business to Bold in 1887, but continued to work as a pattern maker. Halmbacher worked in the saloon business for 13 years. He was also a charter member of the Volunteer Firemen, and a member of the Knights of Pythias. The photo was taken by Art Studio, and ran in the Decatur Daily Review on February 1, 1910.
